Organisers of the Las Vegas Grand Prix see the PR potential in the person of Daniel Ricciardo and shared a remarkable proposal on Twitter. It won't come off, but there is glee because the FIA 'isn't saying no yet'.

Las Vegas GP wants Ricciardo on the grid

Ricciardo will be without a permanent F1 seat next year, but will be back working for his old team Red Bull Racing. Besides his responsibilities as a reserve and test driver, the Australian will also play an important role in the brand's publicity. The good-humoured showman is well-liked by the American public. Therefore, it is perhaps not very surprising that the Las Vegas GP came up with the following remarkable idea.

On Twitter, the organisers shared a wild thought, addressed to the FIA: "We're throwing it out there; a wildcard to drive in the Vegas F1 race in 2023. Daniel Ricciardo as the 21st driver on the grid." The FIA appeared to be in for the humour of the organisers and responded thoughtfully with: "Uhm." The GP organisers could only be happy about that: "That's not a 'no' yet." The driver himself evidently also followed the interlude and watched and will wait and see if this prank becomes a real stunt. Las Vegas GP shared the correspondence, writing that Ricciardo is always invited.
