Marko explains Ricciardo situation: 'Only one point was still open'

On Friday in Abu Dhabi, Helmut Marko appeared to put his money where his mouth was on Daniel Ricciardo returning to Red Bull Racing as a third driver. He quickly retracted his statement, but the chances still seem considerable that Ricciardo will rejoin the Red Bull family.
Speaking to Laola1 Marko is slightly more cautious, saying that there are "talks" with Ricciardo about a role as a third driver at Red Bull. "We have so many sponsorship commitments and show runs and so on, that a guy like him with his 'marketable' profile is very suitable. I see a very realistic option there," he explained.
Marko: 'Only one point was still open'
So the deal between Ricciardo and Red Bull seems to be coming after all. Judging by the latest talks, the parties seem to be very close to an agreement. "We also spoke yesterday and only one point was still open," Marko continued.
ESPN fuels the fire further by stating that it is aware of a possible official announcement. According to the American media outlet, the deal will be confirmed on Sunday and Ricciardo will start working on simulation work, commercial commitments and demonstrations. In addition, he would become a reserve driver in case Max Verstappen or Sergio Perez could not participate in a Grand Prix.
