Max Verstappen ended Friday in Abu Dhabi feeling positive. In the first free practice, he had to cede his RB18 to Liam Lawson, but in FP2 he immediately clocked the fastest time.

"It went fine honestly," Verstappen said after the second free practice session at Verstappen.com. "With the set-up of the car, we were comfortable and Liam did a good job of putting in kilometres during the first free practice. The car felt stable and that's what we like to see."

The second free practice went off without a hitch for Verstappen, who is also satisfied with the race simulations. "We were comfortable and were able to try out some things. Also during the long run it looked good, we are happy with that."

The Red Bull Racing driver switched to the soft tyres early on and had good reason to do so. "The temperature during the second practice matches that during qualifying, which is why I went out on the soft tyres right from the start. I'm happy how the practice went and of course, there are always things that can be improved, but it went well," Verstappen said.
