Perez responds to Red Bull situation: 'The rumour is wrong'
- GPblog.com
The Brazilian Grand Prix caused many rumours this week about the situation between Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen. While Verstappen and Red Bull Racing commented on the moment in Brazil earlier in the day, in conversation with GPblog and others, Perez reacted as well.
At the end of the Brazilian race, Verstappen decided not to pass teammate Perez, preventing the Mexican from gaining extra points for the world championship. Perez was therefore furious afterwards, but has since recovered from the situation.
"That's just speculation from the media out there and creating rumours," Perez responded. "We are all aware of what's going on within the team and we want to keep everything within the team. The rumour is wrong. I think it's part of the sport, and speculation that people like to make."
"I am thinking about this weekend and making sure the team is in good spirits. We have had a tremendous season, a hell of a year for Red Bull. I don't want this to take the enjoyment from any of the guys in the team. Max and myself have a strong responsibility to keep this united team going forward."
Perez wants to forget Brazil GP
Perez added that he would prefer to forget the Brazilian race weekend as soon as possible to focus on his challenge in Abu Dhabi. After all, in the final race, he is fighting with Charles Leclerc for second place in the championship.
