Perez balks: 'Don't know what Leclerc and Ferrari were doing'

Sergio Perez has to start the sprint race in Brazil from ninth place. There probably could have been more in it for the Mexican, but he was hampered by Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver made a mistake due to a wrong tyre choice and dragged Perez into it.
Leclerc was the only driver sent out on intermediates while it was not yet raining. During his out-lap, he already noted that it was still too dry, but he nevertheless pushed for a flying lap with Perez in his wake. During that lap, Leclerc made a mistake but drove straight back onto the track, seriously hindering Perez.
Perez unhappy with Leclerc's action
Because of the red flag, Perez was not given a second chance, and the Red Bull Racing driver is therefore unhappy with Ferrari's action. "It was misfortune there. I don't know what Leclerc and Ferrari were doing, it was very clear that he was too slow on the inters on the out lap. I thought he was going to box, it was quite obvious to me that he was going to box and get onto the slick tyres, but he just stayed in front. I did my lap just behind him and unfortunately, it meant that I just lost too much." Perez said at Viaplay.
Whether a pole would have been in it, the Mexican dare not say, but he is sure much more was possible. "Top three should have been possible today, but unfortunately we have to start in P9. Super disappointed with the result. We will try hard to recover tomorrow and we'll try to get into the points." Perez said.
