Full results Mexico Grand Prix qualifying | Verstappen stands out
- GPblog.com
Qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix was perhaps the most exciting of the year. At the end of Q2, the entire top five were very close and so it was impossible to predict who would take pole. Yet Max Verstappen distinguished himself from the rest of the field in the latter part of qualifying.
Verstappen put his Red Bull on the provisional pole in his first run during Q3. While his rivals struggled to get to that time in their second run, the Dutchman improved his own time a little. In doing so, he put George Russell and Lewis Hamilton three-tenths behind.
Just behind the Mercedes drivers, we find local hero Sergio Perez, who would have preferred to be on pole in front of his home crowd. Still, the Mexican will have opportunities from the second row of the grid.
