Max Verstappen ended the second free practice session for the Mexican Grand Prix with the sixth time. However, the times were not very representative as, like in Austin, the second practice session was dominated by Pirelli's tyre test.

Little useful information for Verstappen

After the session, Verstappen looked back on both free practice sessions and briefly explained his spin in FP1. "I had a little moment, but as soon as I got next to the ideal line it was like driving on ice. In the end, I lost the car and stepped on the brakes," he says in a statement on Verstappen.com.

As the second free practice session was dominated by the Pirelli test, Red Bull Racing could get little useful information from it for the weekend. The soft tyres felt good according to the Dutchman, but he cannot say much about that either as he only drove one run on them. That no attention could be paid to the current race weekend during FP2 made everything a bit trickier and more unfamiliar, just like a week earlier in Austin.

"The hard tyres are a bit more treacherous," Verstappen observes, and so he cannot say much meaningful about performance. Still, he is positive about his impression of the RB18 this weekend. "We have been able to gather very little information, but looking at what we have been able to try, everything is working quite well," Verstappen said.
