'That gives hope for a glorious, long-awaited first win for Mercedes'

Martin Brundle believes Lewis Hamilton can win a Grand Prix with three races to go in 2022. The Briton came close to his first win of the season in the United States, but had to beat Max Verstappen.
Verstappen recorded an emotional victory in Texas following the death of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz, but it did not come naturally. After a very bad pit stop, it was Hamilton who led the Grand Prix for a long time.
Encouraging race for Mercedes
Hamilton drove on a tyre compound harder than Verstappen, who was also determined to win the race for the late Mateschitz. In the closing laps, Verstappen proved too fast for his British rival. Hamilton had to settle for second position. Brundle said in his column on Sky Sport F1 that the speed of the Mercedes W13 in Austin should be encouraging for the German marque.
"The latest updates at least give both drivers and the team hope for a glorious and long awaited late season victory," Brundle writes. The remaining races on the calendar are Mexico, Brazil (with sprint race) and Abu Dhabi.
