Verstappen: "You want to do it in style and we did that today"

For a moment, it seemed to go all wrong for Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing in the United States. Verstappen lost more than ten seconds with a dramatic pit stop but eventually managed to overtake rivals Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton on the tarmac. The Dutchman himself is only too happy with his victory and, of course, the constructors' title for Red Bull Racing.
"It was a tough one," Verstappen said in an initial reaction afterwards. "It was all good but then the pitstop was looking longer then what we would have liked but then I had to fight my way to the end. We gave it everything out there."
At Red Bull, there were mixed feelings. It finally won the constructors' title again after a long time, but Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz lost his battle with illness this weekend. "It's a very difficult weekend for us so his one is for Dietrich after everything he has done for us. After the pitstop, it wasn't looking great but I gave it everything and we came back to win."
Victory for Mateschitz
Verstappen continued, "We had a great chance to win the constructors' title, but you want to do it in style and we did that today. This means a lot to me and to the team." The Dutchman considers it extra special that he was able to run for Mateschirtz at the Circuit of the Americas.
