A long-awaited conversation between Christian Horner and FIA boss Mohammed Ben Sulayem finally took place after the end of the first free practice session for the US Grand Prix, after communication from the governing body seemingly left something to be desired. There are sounds in the paddock that the issue is moving towards a procedural violation rather than a financial one, which would mean good news for Red Bull Racing.

Procedural violation Red Bull?

Viaplay reports that it seems the issue is moving towards a procedural violation, as was the case with Aston Martin. This would have far less serious consequences than a financial violation, which the Austrian racing stable is currently accused of.

All sorts of reports are circulating about what exactly the offence entails. Both sick leave, catering expenses and Adrian Newey's salary are said to be in question. The extent to which these speculations are true will become clear once Red Bull Racing has come to an agreement with the FIA, or not: should the team not agree with the ruling of the governing body, no settlement will be reached and the case may come before the Adjudication Panel.
