Sergio Perez firmly believes Red Bull Racing has done nothing wrong in the budget cap issue. The Mexican was asked the inevitable question about it at the press conference in Austin.

Ahead of the United States Grand Prix, several drivers sat down for the press conference and the topic of conversation was clear: did Red Bull Racing exceed the budget cap and, if so, what should the penalty be? Several competitors were clear about this. Lewis Hamilton, for instance, thinks a clear line should be drawn and Valtteri Bottas expects Red Bull to receive a painful penalty.

Perez has confidence in Red Bull

At Red Bull Racing, for now, they are convinced that nothing is wrong. Red Bull submitted a calculation in which it was four million dollars under the budget cap. ''We believe that we are in line and we believe that everything will come up in the right situation. Obviously, I will leave it down to my team to solve that together with the FIA,'' Perez said.

Like Max Verstappen, Perez also thinks it is mainly the competitors who hope to slow Red Bull down. ''At the end of the day, there's always teams that want to take performance out of you, especially when you are winning, so it's part of the sport and this has been forever and I just think that it will be… it's just a normal situation and everything. At the end of the day facts will come out and people will see and understand the situation,'' the Red Bull driver concludes.

Several rumours are now circulating about the continuation of this saga. First, Red Bull is said to have called a press conference to explain the situation, the FIA is said to have made a proposal to Red Bull, but again it seems that with that proposal, Red Bull should apologise and take the blame. So the last word is far from being said on this.
