Lando Norris thinks he could beat Lewis Hamilton if they drove the same car. In a video for British GQ, Norris answered several questions posed online.

Norris is often seen as one of the great talents in Formula 1. This year, he ranks seventh as "best of the rest" behind drivers from Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes. A title does not seem to be in the cards for the McLaren driver for now, although Norris did indicate that he hopes to compete at the forefront from 2024.

For British GQ, Norris answered a number of questions asked online to and about him. One such question was, "Would Lando Norris win over Lewis Hamilton if they drove in the same team?" After a brief hesitation, Norris said he does indeed think he could win that.

"I have to say yes. It definitely wouldn't be easy. But if you want to do well then you have to believe you are better than the rest."

First win still outstanding for Norris

Twice in 2021, Norris came close to his first victory. At Monza, Max Verstappen and Hamilton collided, allowing both McLaren cars to take over the lead. Norris eventually finished second there behind his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Later that year at the Russian Grand Prix, Norris looked to take victory, until in the last few laps it started to rain and Norris gambled on being able to finish the race on slicks. That proved to be the wrong decision, and Norris eventually dropped back to seventh place.

When asked where he would most like to win his first race, Norris immediately had an answer ready: "Easy. Silverstone. My home race, McLaren's home race. Facing British fans. No place in the world I'd rather win than in front of my own crowd."
