'Updates Mercedes should deliver improvement of one tenth per lap'

Mercedes is still hoping to get its first win of the season in the last four races. Whether that will still succeed remains to be seen. The team will introduce a number of updates for the US Grand Prix, one of which will see a lot of weight loss.
Mercedes is still dry in terms of victories in the 2022 season. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton both have yet to manage to finish on the top step of the podium. The two drivers are fourth and sixth in the drivers' championship.
Toto Wolff revealed on Tuesday that the team will introduce the last update package of the year in Austin. The updates will not take the team very far ahead, but Mercedes hopes to take a step towards the top teams. The team is also already looking at next season.
Lots of weight loss at Mercedes
According to information from Formu1a.uno, Mercedes will make minor changes to the front wing and floor. In addition, the team will also introduce updates that will provide a lot of weight loss. The lighter parts should bring a five-kilogram reduction, bringing the W13 closer to the minimum weight of 798 kilograms. The weight loss should give Mercedes an improvement of one tenth per lap.
So the package will basically be an innovative concept, but the components themselves are not new. In fact, the updates will largely be built with parts that were already available earlier in the season. If the solutions prove to work, Mercedes will build completely new components next season.
