Horner sends warning to F1 rivals: "Continue to deliver dominant engines"
Christian Horner aims for Red Bull Racing to "continue to deliver dominant engines" in the world of Formula 1 after the team announced they are strengthening their partnership with Honda. The announcement was made ahead of this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix in which Max Verstappen can win his second F1 world title.
Horner delighted
Red Bull Racing team boss is delighted with the news that Honda will increase their partnership. This includes adding the Honda name back to the cars from the Japanese Grand Prix onwards. Since Honda left Formula 1, Red Bull Racing have dominated the scene whilst carrying on using the same power unit. Horner hopes this trend will continue moving forwards.
"Honda has invested significantly in hybrid technology over the course of our partnership. This has ensured the supply of competitive power units to both teams, for which we are very grateful. Our combined goal is to continue to deliver dominant engines and achieve the most success possible in the following three years," Horner said in the press release.
This will take this partnership up until the end of the 2025 season. New engine regulations will be entering the sport in 2026, and no announcement has been confirmed for that yet. In the meantime, F1 returns to Japan for the first time since 2019 because of the covid-19 pandemic.
"We look forward to welcoming the Honda logo back on to the car from Suzuka onwards," Horner added.
