McLaren knows what to do: 'It's clear'

McLaren are still fighting for fourth place in the constructors' championship over the next six Grands Prix. Behind the scenes, however, the team are already focusing on next season, when the British formation is keen to compete among the top teams.
Expectations were high at McLaren this season. The British outfit seemed to have a car with which it could compete for the world title, but partly due to braking problems, the team soon had to give up on this ambition.
In the new season, however, McLaren hopes to take a big step forward. With the departure of Daniel Ricciardo and the arrival of Oscar Piastri, a lot will change within the team, but McLaren does not expect major changes to the car.
McLaren hopes for victories
The team continues to work hard on improving the car. Team boss Andreas Seidl is hopeful that it can compete for wins next season. "It is clear that the teams at the front are more than a second faster and we want to make big steps in terms of development," he stressed in a conversation with Formule1.nl.
Technical director James Key revealed in the same interview that McLaren needs to ensure it is immediately competitive in the first race weekends. This should make it easier for the formation to make improvements to the car.
