Daniil Kvyat states in conversation with Motorsport.com that he expects a return to Formula 1 to still be a possibility. Although the Russian invasion of Ukraine is still ongoing, he hopes for better times for drivers of his nation.
From 2014, the Russian competed for Toro Rosso before switching to Red Bull Racing. At the Austrian racing team, he failed to succeed. As Max Verstappen was doing extremely well at his old team at the time, the racing teams decided to reverse their roles in 2016.
AlphaTauri, as Toro Rosso's new team new is called, decided to say goodbye to him after 2020, after which he opted for new challenges. Since July this year, for instance, he can be admired in NASCAR. However, a return to Formula 1 is still attractive to him.
Kvyat hopes for future seat in F1
However, Kvyat knows that Formula 1 teams do not want to be associated with a Russian driver for the time being. At the start of the season, for instance, Haas F1 chose to part ways with Nikita Mazepin with immediate effect and put Kevin Magnussen in his place.
At 28 years old, however, Kvyat still considers himself young, which is why he hopes he will get the opportunity to be active in Formula 1 again in the coming years. He stresses that for now, however, he is still enjoying himself in the United States.
