De Vries critical of himself after qualifying: 'There was more in there'

Nyck de Vries was given the opportunity of a lifetime at Monza during the Italian Grand Prix and did not waste it. The Dutchman filled in for Alexander Albon at Williams and made his F1 debut. The reserve driver himself says that during his qualifying he could actually have done more.
Albon dropped out suddenly after finishing the full Friday in Italy. The Briton had to go to the hospital for an operation due to an inflamed appendix. A big bummer for Albon, as his car was supposed to be very fast on the Italian circuit, but all the more of a chance for De Vries to aim high.
De Vries expected more from qualifying
With his P9 finish, De Vries did indeed set high standards and although the Dutchman has now secured a third of the team's 2022 point total, he is still somewhat critical of his performance, especially on qualifying. In a YouTube video from Williams showing how things went behind the scenes at the Italian GP weekend, De Vries is briefly speaking after the Saturday afternoon session.
The F1 debutant says: "I didn't expect to do qualifying this weekend. I feel very sorry for Alex that he is so unlucky that he is now in hospital. Fortunately, he is doing well. For me, it's a great opportunity and a chance to race this weekend. We had very little time to be fully prepared, but I think we put in a decent performance. I'm always a bit critical of myself anyway and I think there could have been a bit more in there."
