Mercedes not giving up hope of victory: 'Ideally several wins'

Mercedes is experiencing a frustrating season, with the team continuing to struggle with the unpredictable performance of the W13. As the German racing stable tries to make sense of this, Mike Elliott expresses hope that the team will get itself back on track.
"I think it's been a pretty frustrating season. Not only from our general performance level compared to previous years, but also there's a rollercoaster we've been on race to race. We've seen our performance go up and down," said the technical director in the F1 letter from Mercedes.
Mercedes hopes for comeback
The team continues to struggle with why the W13 is so fickle and why that varies so much from track to track. The aim is to understand that so that Mercedes can potentially get back into title contention in 2023. Meanwhile, the team is also not giving up hope of a win this year, nor the chance to beat Ferrari for second place in the championship. The focus, however, is on next year.
"We want to try and fight Ferrari for that P2 position, we want to try and win a race this season, or multiple races ideally. But most of all, we want to get ourselves back on track so we're fighting properly for the championship next year," Elliott concluded.
