Red Bull almost achieves the 'impossible': Another record in the F1 pits
- GPblog.com
Red Bull was fast as ever in the pit lane at Zandvoort. At the Dutch Grand Prix, they achieved a one-two finish in the pits, with Sergio Perez the lucky driver.
The Dutch Grand Prix was a great success for Red Bull Racing with a victory for Max Verstappen. There was also another victory in the pit lane, as Perez's pit stop on lap 14 cost the Austrian just 2.09s. That is immediately the fastest time of the season, breaking Red Bull's own record from Perez's pit stop in Hungary (2.19s).
Dominance of Red Bull
Red Bull shows its dominance by taking second place as well. Perez's second stop on lap 40 was also quick: 2.32s. Red Bull does not get the points for this, as it is the same car. Max Verstappen's pit stops of 2.86s and 3.07s were not good enough for a top ten finish.
Red Bull's victory in the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award standings puts them further ahead of the competition. The team of Verstappen and Perez already has 372 points. McLaren follows close behind with 310 points, after scoring points with two cars in Zandvoort. Ferrari closes the podium at a suitable distance: 178 points.
