The Formula One drivers have completed the first two free practice sessions of the Dutch Grand Prix. Although it is only the first day, Max Verstappen and Jan Lammers have already noticed that the event will be a big success again. In the press release of the Dutch GP they explained why.

It was not an easy day for Verstappen. Where he could not compete during the first free practice due to problems with his car, a few hours later he had to settle for a place in the middle of the grid. Nevertheless, the reigning world champion could still enjoy himself.

"It's only Friday, but the atmosphere here is already fantastic," he commented.

"It's great to drive at Circuit Zandvoort anyway, especially with that orange sea along the track. It's great that thanks to Jumbo tens of thousands of fans were able to attend on Friday. That's great fun for me as well."

Lammers satisfied with first day

Since only part of the capacity was allowed to be filled by Circuit Zandvoort last season, Sports Director Lammers had to wait and see whether everything would go well. The former Formula 1 driver is very satisfied with the first day.

"We are very excited that everything went well today," said Lammers. "It's great to see Zandvoort turn orange again and to experience that festive feeling again. It's also unique that Friday is so popular."
