Max Verstappen showed absolute dominance in the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. After an hour and a half, the reigning world champion crossed the finish line first, 17 seconds ahead. The Red Bull Racing driver had to start from fourteenth on the grid, but that didn't bother him.

Verstappen enjoys it to the full

"It was quite a hectic first lap to try and stay out of trouble so many things were happening," Verstappen said in a first reaction at Spa-Francorchamps. "once we settled in after the SC the car was really on rails. Picked the right places to overtake people and then manage the tyres. This weekend was incredible."

Despite having almost all of his engine parts replaced, Verstappen still goes home with the maximum 26 points. "It's a weekend I couldn't imagine before but I think we want more of them and keep working hard," said the Dutchman, who hopes Red Bull will be just as competitive next week when the Formula One circus descends on Zandvoort."We'll see what we can do there."

Verstappen's lead over Leclerc is currently 98 points. However, based on the World Championship standings, the biggest challenger is now not the Ferrari driver, but his teammate Sergio Perez. While Verstappen is on 284 points after fourteen races, Perez has collected 191.
