Sergio Perez set the third fastest time in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix and will start the race from P2. He failed to beat Carlos Sainz and so tomorrow's start of the race will be crucial.
Perez not starting from P1, but has good chance of victory
Perez has the chance to win the race, as the two drivers fighting with him for the title Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc will start from P15 and P16 respectively. Although Perez converted his difficult start on Friday into good speed on Saturday, it was not enough to beat Sainz in his final run during Q3. Therefore, the Mexican will start from second place after Verstappen's penalties.
Speaking after the session, Perez said: "P2 is certainly not the worst place to be here. If I get a good run against Carlos, I can be on the other side fast. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, I think we have an interesting race ahead of us." Perez has a good chance of beating his rivals tomorrow. The Mexican is five points behind Leclerc and can aim for P2 in the championship. Perez: "It's really important to get a good start and to drive our own race from the beginning. We will see tomorrow."
