The Formula 1 teams resume the season this weekend with the Belgian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen is looking forward to take to the track at Spa-Francorchamps, he tells the NOS. The Dutchman is confident that he can do well.

For the leader in the world championship, the racing year has been excellent so far. The difference with Charles Leclerc in the world championship is no less than eighty points, which gives him the opportunity to drop some points in the next nine races.

Verstappen, however, is not known for slacking off. The reigning world champion said on Thursday that he is aware that Ferrari were not far off Red Bull Racing's performance in the first half of the season, so things could still go wrong.

Verstappen also told the Dutch media that he realises he is not there yet. The driver wants to stay sharp until the last race. "I will look back when I have finished racing. That's how the whole team thinks," said Verstappen realistically.

Verstappen confident of good weekend

Last season in Belgium, Verstappen had the most points. Although the FIA decided to cancel the race due to heavy rainfall, the drivers drove a number of laps behind a safety car and the organisation was able to hand out half of the points.

Verstappen believes he can perform well in Belgium again this season. "This is my favourite circuit. Always was, although the results here were often disappointing. The track often didn't suit our car, but this year we have a high top speed. So it looks pretty good, if nothing goes wrong."
