Toto Wolff hopes Mercedes will be able to perform well in Formula 1 after the summer break. While the German team had to work hard in the first half of the season to catch up, the team boss has noticed the gap between them and Red Bull Racing and Ferrari narrowing.

The Austrian is looking forward to continuing the season. "We're set for an intense second half of the season, with nine more opportunities to find improvements, make progress and hopefully challenge Red Bull and Ferrari for wins," Wolff told Mercedes' press release.

Wolff can take confidence from the last Grand Prix in Hungary. Just before the summer break Mercedes managed to finish with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in second and third place respectively, only having to allow Max Verstappen to get ahead of them.

Wolff happy with Belgian GP

While the Belgian GP is under pressure and may be removed from the calendar, Wolff is happy to see the drivers back on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit this weekend. Indeed, the team leader still enjoys the Belgian track.

"Spa-Francorchamps needs no introduction. A classic track with an old-school feel, the scene of many iconic moments in F1 history and an incredible challenge for both the car and drivers. We're excited to be back there, hopefully we can put on an awesome show this year for all the fans in Belgium."
