Michael Masi has denied that he will soon return to the world of motorsport. According to an earlier report, the former Formula 1 racing director could become the new chairman of the Supercars Commission.

The Australian is said to be on the list to replace Neil Crompton as chairman. The organisation itself maintained that no decision has yet been made, but Masi is said to be a contender to return as chairman. He has previously worked for the Supercars Commission before making the move to F1.

In conversation with Speedcafe.com, Masi reacted with surprise to the rumour. "Really? They're only rumours." The Australian explained that he has received several offers, but that he is in no hurry to make a decision about his future job.

Masi is in no hurry

"I’ve had a number of offers from all corners of the globe and there’s a number of exciting opportunities that have come about. I’m in not in a rush to confirm anything on any of them. Some a surprise, some not so much of a surprise, but equally, we’ll just continue to evaluate all the bits and pieces that are popping up, and there is plenty." The FIA confirmed earlier this year that Masi had officially left the organisation.
