Wolff brushes aside chances: 'Second, first loser'

Mercedes has had a disappointing first half of the season. Nevertheless, the German team is only thirty points behind Ferrari in the Constructors' Championship. For Toto Wolff it does not matter whether Mercedes comes second or third, he says in conversation with Racer.
The team boss is having a turbulent season with Mercedes. At the start of the season, his team failed to keep up with Ferrari and Red Bull Racing, leaving it far behind the competition. It managed to reduce the gap after several updates during the year.
Wolff considers fight with Ferrari less important
While it is therefore still possible to battle it out with Ferrari after the summer, the difference with the Austrian formation is so big that first place is almost unattainable. Wolff seems to know that too and is therefore concentrating mainly on the longer term.
"Second, first loser," Wolff sums up the situation. "For me personally whether, second or third in the constructors’ world championship is not so relevant compared to really racing and being at the front developing the car so we can win races on merit."
