Stoffel Vandoorne can hardly believe he has won the Formula E world championship. The driver had to give his all until the last race, but thanks to his consistency and the hard work of Mercedes, he has walked away with the title.

"World champions, wow. It’s just the best feeling ever. Just look at the season we’ve had, the consistency, the car's been amazing. The team has done an amazing job, and I think every single one of us deserves this. What we’ve accomplishes is special", Vandoorne says in front of the camera after the race.

Vandoorne had to give everything until the very last race. Mitch Evans won the race on Saturday, which kept his title chances alive. In the end, Evans did not come close to Vandoorne in the final race of the season. "He’s pushed me all the way along, same with Edoardo. They were there all the time. It was about the consistency", continues the Belgian.

Vandoorne completely exhausted

"It was difficult to focus, because the pace at the end was so high. I knew Jake had a five-second penalty, so I had to stay close enough to secure P2. I’m drained after this year, it has been a lot of effort. The effort the team has put in is incredible", says the new Formula E world champion. The Mercedes team won the constructors' championship for the second year in a row, along with Vandoorne and Nyck de Vries.
