Alex Albon and Oscar Piastri tipped to replace Vettel at Aston Martin

The rumour mill has already started in regards to Sebastian Vettel's replacement and two heavily linked with the position are Alex Albon and Oscar Piastri.

Williams' Albon has been enjoying a positive season whilst Piastri is currently on the books at Alpine, awaiting his first full time drive. The 2021 Formula 2 champion is regarded very highly in the paddock but has found opportunities hard to come by given Alpine's lineup of Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso looking very secure.

With the seat alongside Lance Stroll now open, Karun Chandhok and Johnny Herbert have been having their say on who they think could replace the four-time World Champion.

Chandhok told Sky Sports at the F1 weekend in Hungary: "Honestly I would go with either Alex Albon, I think you know he has got good experience now of the currnt generation of F1 car, he's doing a very good job at Williams and he'd be somebody who could step into a role of working to build Aston Martin alongside Lance."

"But you could also go for someone outside the current paddock. Nyck de Vries, Oscar Piastri you know are the two names that have been on the list."

In response Hubert put his backing behind Piastri. "I'd go for Oscar I think, someone who's gone into F2 and he's gone bang, and it's always important from a drivers' perspective where there's a bit of a wow factor and that's exactly what he's done coming through. So I think Oscar for me would be my choice but I do like Alex as well."
