Alexander Albon is being closely monitored by Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner, but the British Thai is not expecting a quick return to the Austrian can manufacturer. Albon does say he is still in contact with people at Red Bull.

When asked by Motorsport-Total.com whether he will return to Red Bull later in his career, Albon answers that there are always talks, but that it is no secret that the seats at Red Bull and AlphaTauri are taken, so a return is certainly not likely now.

In 2021, Albon served as a test and reserve driver at Red Bull. Yuki Tsunoda got the chance at AlphaTauri, so there was no place for the now 26-year-old driver. He was out of the racing action for a year, but Albon soon found his rhythm again. At Williams, he is fully enjoying what he believes has been a 'great year' so far. "I'm just concentrating on this season and we'll see what happens in the future," he said.

The current world number 19 has settled down well at Williams and says he enjoys working with the people at Grove. He also has a good feeling about the FW13. The last time Albon felt this good in a car was in the 2019 Toro Rosso, he told the aforementioned German medium.

Albon is still backed by Red Bull, but it is not as if the number six in last season's DTM championship has been 'loaned' to Williams for one season. Williams has full control of Albon, although Red Bull does have some clauses that allow them to bring him back.
