Ferrari were given a hard time after another disappointing result in the French Grand Prix, due to mistakes made by the team. Charles Leclerc threw it away, while Carlos Sainz was put on a questionable strategy. The Spaniard himself, however, does not appear to have driven a flawless race either.

Sainz drove away despite red light

Like most drivers, Sainz used the safety car phase after Leclerc's crash to gain time with a pit stop. The Spaniard had started against the trend on hard compound and was forced to fit a set of medium tyres for the remaining 35 laps. However, a stuck wheel delayed his stop. The Spaniard then rushed to get away, but in doing so he hampered the Williams of Alexander Albon, who had to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision. It earned him a five-second time penalty.
