Russell fights his corner after Perez duel: "Rules are pretty clear"
Mercedes and Red Bull Racing renewed their rivalry during the French Grand Prix. George Russell and Sergio Perez engaged in a fantastic duel in the closing stages of the race. After a bit of minor contact and some discussion on the radio, Russell got the better of his rival.

The two drivers had contact at the chicane, and Russell was certain Perez was in the wrong. Then Guanyu Zhou stopped and caused a virtual safety car. At the restart, Perez was caught sleeping and Russell overtook. Russell kept Perez in his mirrors for the final stages, and he was glad to see the flag.
"The pace was strong. We really struggled with the warm-up after that restart and Checo was all over me. I am happy to have made it over the checkered line and home in P3," Russell said in the post-race interview.
"I saw him struggling when Sainz got past. I had that one opportunity and the rules are pretty clear because I had one tyre in front of him in the corner. Front-wheel to rear wheel and he didn't leave me much space but glad to bring it home in P3 and a double podium," Russell concluded.
