De Vries replaces Hamilton in FP1 France

In a press release from Mercedes, Toto Wolff revealed that De Vries will be in action on behalf of the German racing stable during FP1. "Nyck is replacing Lewis in first practice this weekend, as part of the allocated sessions for young drivers this year. So, we're looking forward to seeing how he gets on," said the Austrian.

In the course of the season every driver has to give up one of his first practice sessions to a young driver. According to the press release Hamilton himself has chosen the practice session in which he will be replaced by the Dutchman and George Russell will choose a later moment to give up his seat.
