After Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen is the longest-serving driver on the current grid at the same Formula One team. The Dutchman joined Red Bull Racing in 2016 and his current contract only expires after the 2028 season. Mark Webber does not see Verstappen leaving in the interim and speaks of a perfect match.

If Verstappen completes his contract, it means a tenure of no less than thirteen (almost) full seasons with the Austrian formation. It is reminiscent of combinations like Lionel Messi and Barcelona or Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. At Formule1.nl Mark Webber says that Max Verstappen and Red Bull will be able to find themselves together in this combination.

"Yes, absolutely. Max and Red Bull, it's just a bizarre good marriage when you look at how they perform and what a great endorsement he is for the Red Bull brand. The Verstappen style is a perfect fit for Red Bull; he embodies what Red Bull stands for," says the former Red Bull driver just halfway through the 2022 season.

Match made in heaven

It's not for nothing that Red Bull Racing handed Verstappen a contract for another six seasons earlier this year. Never before has a Formula 1 racing stable handed out a contract with such a long duration. In combination with the Dutchman's annual salary, it also meant the 'fattest' F1 contract of all time.

For Verstappen himself, it's equally true that he feels incredibly comfortable at Red Bull. The Dutchman did not rule out the possibility that he will only race for the team of Christian Horner and Helmut Marko during his career in the pinnacle of motorsport.
