Zhou reacts to horror crash: "Halo saved me"
Guanyu Zhou had a horror crash at the start of the British Grand Prix. The Chinese driver made contact with George Russell down the Hamilton straight and spun around. His Alfa Romeo flipped over upside down and skidded across the gravel. Just before the tyre wall, Zhou's car lifted up and launched into the catch fence.
Scary crash
Under red flag conditions, Formula 1 doctor Ian Roberts arrived on the scene and found it difficult to get Zhou out of the car. Eventually, they got him onto a stretcher and took him to the medical centre for an assessment. Following the conclusion of the British Grand Prix, Zhou posted a selfie on Twitter suggesting the "Halo saved his life". Alex Albon also had a crash at the same time and he is in hospital for checks. Reports suggest that he is okay.
The Halo also came into action earlier in the day during the Formula 2 support race. And most notably, the halo helped Romain Grosjean survive a fireball crash a couple of years ago.
I’m ok, all clear. Halo saved me today. Thanks everyone for your kind messages! pic.twitter.com/OylxoJC4M0
