The British Grand Prix is just around the corner and, as always, it looks like it will be a huge motorsport party. According to the Dutch Algemeen Dagblad, some 400,000 fans are expected at Silverstone over the three days.

Much to cheer for the British

With three British drivers (Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Lando Norris) and Alexander Albon having grown up in London, British fans have plenty of drivers to cheer for. Add in McLaren, Aston Martin and Williams, and the party is complete. Silverstone therefore expects more fans than ever before.

In 2021 the British Grand Prix was the first race to welcome a 'full house' again after the Covid pandemic. This brought a total of 356,000 visitors over the three days. In 2022 some 400,000 are expected, an absolute record.

Rainy weekend?

It does not look like the fans are going to keep it dry for three days, as the chance of rain on Friday is already at 50 per cent. On Saturday, the chances will even increase. The first session of the weekend is scheduled for 13:00 on Friday, with the lights going green for the Grand Prix on Sunday at 15:00.
