A fourth place in 2021 is Lando Norris ' best result to date at his home race at Silverstone. Whether the young Briton can improve on that performance this weekend at the British Grand Prix remains to be seen, as McLaren have not been very successful this season.

McLaren worked hard to improve performance

Like many other teams, McLaren will bring several updates to Silverstone this weekend. The team will need them, because the performance so far has been disappointing. McLaren hoped to make the connection with the top this season, but in fact the team of Norris and Daniel Ricciardo has fallen back even further.

Norris himself remains hopeful, he tells in the McLaren preview. "Since the last race in Canada we have worked hard on our performance and understood as a team what we need to do better. We now have a good understanding of that and although we know there is no overnight solution, we will do everything we can to give the home fans something to cheer about."

Norris looking forward to home race

The Grand Prix at Silverstone is the home race for Norris and so he is very much looking forward to it. "Seeing the British fans and all the papaya as we drive around the track is always so motivating and such a boost to the team - there's nothing like a home crowd. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in the fan zone and soaking up the atmosphere."

Although McLaren's results have been disappointing this season, Norris is still managing to do some damage control. The Briton is seventh in the championship and managed his only podium finish of the season so far at Imola. Ricciardo is only thirteenth in the championship with fifteen points. Norris has scored fifty so far.
