Where Robert Doornbos is still a little hesitant, Mark Webber is much more outspoken. The former Red Bull Racing driver is convinced that Ferrari will not succeed in beating the Austrians in 2022. According to Webber Max Verstappen is the favourite to win the world title.

After nine Grands Prix Verstappen is 49 points ahead of Charles Leclerc. Yet Ferrari regularly has a faster car than Red Bull, but bad luck, strategy or unreliability prevent a red car from winning. These are all signs that, in Webber's view, Red Bull 'will continue to dominate this championship.'

"They have a car that is very good on downforce levels, on all tyre compounds," Webber is quoted by The Guardian. "It’s like a tennis player on all surfaces or a golfer on all holes, short, long, chipping, putting, driving, the Red Bull can do everything. Red Bull have pretty much an answer for anything at the moment, Max could wrap it up with three races to go.”

Perez biggest opponent Verstappen

Verstappen's biggest rival would be teammate Sergio Perez. However, the Australian, who has finished first in his F1 career a total of nine times, believes the veteran will eventually succumb to Verstappen's pressure.

“I like Sergio a lot but over the course of the season, over time, Max will just find a way to start accumulating bigger points. In Azerbaijan Max drove away down the road, it was a very emphatic victory. Then in Canada it’s raining, it’s dry, it’s cold, it’s tricky and Max all weekend was phenomenal," Webber concluded.
