Alpine comes up with new upgrades in the battle for P4 with McLaren
- GPblog.com
Alpine F1 Team is working hard on the A522. In Canada, the French team introduced already its fifth upgrade of 2022 and in Silverstone, the sixth is expected, if it is ready in time.
Upgrade number six on the way
Alpine has a clear goal for 2022. The team hopes to finish fourth among the constructors, a step up from 2021. To achieve that goal, the team is introducing upgrade after upgrade and the next one is already scheduled for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. "When the parts are ready. We're working on it 24/7," says Alan Permane according to Auto, Motor und Sport.
"A lot of people will show up with upgrades at Silverstone. In the end it will probably be enough to keep our heads above water," continued Alpine's sporting director. At the start of the season, Alpine was even thinking of third place in the Constructors' standings, but it soon became clear that Mercedes was a size too big for the Enstone team.
Tyre wear still a problem
Porpoising is hardly an issue for Alpine, as it only affected Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon at the Spanish Grand Prix. The team does still have problems with the tyres, especially the softer compounds. They are overloaded and no solution has been found yet.
