Verstappen trumps Vettel, Schumacher and Hamilton for new record
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen has added another record to his resume. The Dutchman is the youngest driver to have 25 Formula 1 victories on his record.
At the Baku City Circuit, Max Verstappen crossed the finish line first on Sunday for the 25th time in his still young Formula 1 career. On Sunday, he was exactly 24 years and 255 days old, making him the youngest driver ever to manage to win 25 Grands Prix.
Great champions
Verstappen thus trumps Sebastian Vettel, who was 25 years and 103 days old when he won his 25th Grand Prix. Vettel did have two world championships to his name at the time of his 25th victory, while Verstappen 'only' has one at the moment.
After Vettel, the gap is more than three years to the next driver: Michael Schumacher. He scored his 25th victory only at the age of 28, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton were both already 29 when they touched number 25. Of course, it should be mentioned that there are more and more races on the calendar these days, making it relatively easier for new F1 drivers to achieve 25 wins.
