Is Steiner causing unrest for Haas? 'He's very emotional'
- GPblog.com
Things are unsettled within the Haas camp. There is increasing pressure on Mick Schumacher and that is dividing the team. Guenther Steiner is doing his best to keep everything together, but according to Sascha Roos, is sharing in the malaise.
Schumacher under pressure
Since the arrival of Kevin Magnussen, everything is different within Haas. Where Schumacher was the clear frontrunner within the team in 2021, his performance is dwarfed compared to the returning Dane. In qualifying and races, Schumacher loses the duel to his teammate and he also regularly finds his car into the wall.
Steiner let it be known that Schumacher should not continue to make many such mistakes. ''Of course, it costs the team a lot of money, but that quote only increases the pressure on the young German. ''Steiner is very emotional in his own way. It is clear that Mick Schumacher is not performing and he knows that himself,'' says Roos at Sky Germany.
Steiner's management style
The Sky Germany commentator does not think that Steiner will change his emotional style of management, but does think that it is necessary. ''The question is whether that style still suits the present time. You can certainly doubt that.''
In doing so, Roos also refers to other drivers who are supported by their team despite lesser performances. Nicholas Latifi, for example, is not addressed in the media by his team boss and Daniel Ricciardo has also had his hand held over his head for a long time. ''In the end, a hug doesn't make you faster, but it maybe gives you the feeling that you are allowed to make mistakes,'' the German concluded.
