Jos Verstappen is happy with the fact that Red Bull Racing has been able to revenge itself after a disappointing start to the season with several dropouts. In the meantime, the Austrian racing team has its affairs in order and Max Verstappen was able to register his fifth victory of the season on Sunday.

Jos Verstappen not critical, but praising

After the Monaco Grand Prix, Verstappen Sr. wrote a very critical column. According to the former Formula 1 driver, Red Bull had not done everything to help the World Cup leader. Max Verstappen talked about it with his father and also between Perez and his Dutch teammate there has been talk about the rather pithy statements. Christian Horner let it be known that he was not so worried about Jos' words.

After the Azerbaijan Grand Prix the 50-year-old Dutchman sounds a lot more cheerful. "After the two retirements at the start of the season, everyone thought it could be lost. Now you see Ferrari is currently having problems, but things can change in an instant and it remains a very technical sport. Then you notice that Red Bull often has things in order, with their skilled people and experience," he says at Verstappen.com.

F1 season lasts until November

Yet there is no celebrations within the Verstappen camp, because they know that this Formula 1 season counts 22 races. The number one in the world championship is driving with the knife between his teeth, as was evident again in Baku. "You could see Max was very motivated. That had of course to do with the previous race in Monaco, but he doesn’t really let it get to him. I think that’s very beautiful, it only makes him better. A challenged Max is an even better Max", according to Jos.

Thanks to the retirement of Charles Leclerc, Verstappen was 25 points ahead of his Ferrari rival in the World Championship. The difference is now 34 points, while the 24-year-old from Limburg was still more than 40 points behind after the Australian Grand Prix. In terms of characteristics, the circuit in Montreal next weekend should also be favorable for Red Bull. Opportunities therefore to increase the margin to Ferrari even further.
