Max Verstappen was not satisfied with his RB18 in qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. As a result, the Dutchman could not set a good lap, so he hopes the problem will be solved during the race.

Verstappen will have to try to overtake poleman Charles Leclerc and teammate Sergio Perez from P3 on Sunday. Not sounding very happy with his position, the Dutchman nevertheless expresses cautious confidence in the Red Bull's race pace.

"It's not wrong of course, but not good enough either. It's difficult again this weekend to find a good balance in qualifying. Q3 overall didn't go very well. We didn't really have a fine balance from the front to the back and then you can't really be constant in how you approach a lap with braking and turning. Then of course you can't set a very good lap, but we are still third. I just hope that tomorrow in the race the balance feels a bit more normal," he told Viaplay.

Verstappen hopes for fight in the race

Verstappen is not yet sure whether his team will also be faster on Sunday, as the gap towards Leclerc was large in qualifying. The Dutchman will have to hope for a better balance during the race, and maybe another strategic blunder by Ferrari.

"It's hard to say, because it's quite a big gap again in qualifying. They will definitely have found something again, just I hope that during the race tomorrow it will be a bit closer together. If we have the speed and we can really put pressure on them, then we can pass them."
