Leclerc expects to be faster on Saturday: 'Room for improvement'
- GPblog.com
Charles Leclerc can look back on his Friday in Baku with satisfaction. The Monegasque recorded the best time during the second free practice and even closed a small gap towards the Red Bull drivers. Yet Leclerc also sees room for improvement.
The second practice session in Baku was quite chaotic. Due to several yellow flags, several drivers were disturbed during their fast laps, making the session not as representative as usual. Max Verstappen in particular drove few laps after starting the session with a delay following problems with his rear wing.
"We had a solid first day. The progression we made from FP1 to FP2 was good and we worked well as a team. The lap times are not representative, because no one put a proper lap together in the second session. There is still quite a bit of room for improvement," Leclerc says in Ferrari's press release.
Leclerc sounds positive about pace
In terms of race pace, it seems that Red Bull has a slight advantage, while Ferrari again looks fast over a single lap. Still, we will have to wait and see for the rest of the weekend, as it was difficult for the drivers to put down a good lap.
"Our race pace looked quite strong and I felt good in the car. In terms of tyres, I felt comfortable on the long run and didn't have any graining, which is another positive", ends the Ferrari driver.
