Charles Leclerc has lived in Monaco since childhood and therefore grew up watching Formula 1 on the streets of his hometown. The Monegasque dreams of winning his home race, but so far the Ferrari driver has had a lot of bad luck on the street circuit.

Last weekend, Leclerc participated in the historic Monaco Grand Prix. However, his demonstration in Niki Lauda's old Ferrari went awry, as the Monegasque ended up in the wall. Leclerc revealed on Twitter that he lost his brakes.

It is not the first time that Leclerc ended up in the wall of the historic street circuit. The Ferrari driver has never finished a race in Monaco. For his title chances, it is to be hoped that he has more luck this year, as Max Verstappen is slowly closing in on him in the drivers' championship.

Leclerc dreams of victory in Monaco

"The challenge for a Formula 1 driver to drive around here with no room for mistakes is something that we all appreciate as drivers. For me, it’s also the streets that I’ve been taking to go to school every morning by bus when I was a child. It’s a very special track. It hasn’t happened yet [a victory], so I need to make it happen this year", Leclerc tells Sky Sports.
