Mortara wins in Berlin, De Vries in tenth place

Edoardo Mortara managed to win the first Formula E race of the weekend in Berlin. The driver drove at the front for almost the entire race, making him the deserved winner on Saturday afternoon.
Mortara got away well at the start and maintained his front position, while Antonio Felix da Costa gained a place and moved into second position. André Lotterer also gained a few places and was in third position after the first lap. It immediately caused a stir at the front of the field.
In the midfield, Nyck de Vries also did good business. The driver had to start the race from twelfth position but managed to conquer tenth place very quickly. His compatriot Robin Frijns did good business at the back of the field by moving up from twentieth place and after a number of overtaking manoeuvres moved up to fifteenth place.
Excitement at the front of the field
At the halfway point of the race, Mortara let his rival Lotterer pass but remained on P2. This allowed him to regain the lead at lightning speed and create a gap on the chasers. De Vries, meanwhile, had fallen further away in the driver field and was driving on P14, putting him ahead of Frijns, who was driving in fifteenth place.
At the end of the race, a lot happened especially upfront. Where Mortara was on P1 for a long time, he did not manage to keep Lotterer behind him. He ended up in third place just behind Stoffel Vandoorne. However, when the latter driver then went past Lotterer, Mortara seized his opportunity and joined him in his wake. Vandoorne then quickly lost his time, returning to the lead position. Vergne still captured P2. This ensured that Vandoorne had to settle for third place, while De Vries got no further than P10.
