Alpine deploys juniors and lets them test A521 in Qatar

Alpine F1 Team puts its junior drivers in last year's F1 car at Qatar. Oscar Piastri and Jack Doohan will drive three days of laps at the Losail International Circuit, which hosted its first Grand Prix in 2021.
Piastri not testing for the first time
Piastri has been Alpine's official third driver since 2022 and has all his necessary experience with Formula One cars. For Doohan, it will be a special test, as the Australian is driving a Formula One car for the first time.
The French team has made the 2021 car available to the youngsters. Piastri tells FormulaPassion.it that the tests in Qatar were very hot and the track had been little used. As a result, it was not easy for the Aussie. In Barcelona and Monaco, Piastri will rejoin the main team.
Doohan takes on final day
The final day of testing will be for Doohan, who is very much looking forward to his first Formula One test. "I'm very grateful to Alpine for this opportunity and I can't wait to do my best on test day," he said.
