Leclerc hints at upgrades to challenge Red Bull: "Now we can do a step up"
After the late safety car in the Miami Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc gave it everything to pinch the win from Max Verstappen but ultimately came off short. Red Bull's strong straight-line pace couldn't be matched by Ferrari's car. Despite the result, Leclerc remains at the top of the 2022 World Championship but the battle for the title is on.
Tough race
The three drivers on the podium looked exhausted after the race. During the interview, Leclerc acknowledged how tough it was in the Miami heat. He also gave his thoughts on the tyre situation for Ferrari.
"It was a very difficult race physically. We struggled a bit with the medium tyres in the first stint and got overtook, which made the race difficult. on the hard, we were competitive and thought I could get Max. They had the advantage in terms of pace," Leclerc said.
With new rules and regulations in 2022, the development rate is going to be high. Five races have now been completed in the season, and the sport now returns to Europe with the Spanish Grand Prix next on the calendar. Leclerc perhaps hints at some upgrades for the Italian team.
"I hope so, we need to keep pushing. Upgrades will be important throughout the year and I hope now we can do a step up from next race onwards," Leclerc added.
