Two weeks after the near-perfect weekend for Red Bull Racing in Imola, they had to acknowledge their superiority to Ferrari again in qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will start from the first two spots, with the Red Bull duo behind them on the second row of the grid.

Although overtaking does not seem easy in Miami due to the large amount of dirt outside the ideal line, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are holding out hope for a race with overtaking, as they explained in Red Bull's press release. "I think we have a good chance tomorrow as we have a good top speed. It’s quite slippery outside the racing line, it almost feels like gravel, maybe I need to call my dad and ask for some rally advice.”

Strategy is going to be important

A rainstorm on the night of Saturday to Sunday means it remains to be seen whether the grip on that ideal line will still be so powerful. It will be a race with many unknown factors for all 20 drivers, Sergio Perez also predicts: "Anything can happen, my race pace looks good so beating the Ferraris is possible if we have a better strategy than them. It will be an interesting race tomorrow with the tyre choice and what happens there." Also because of the high temperatures, handling the tires will be very important. In Bahrain earlier this season we saw that the tires can wear out very quickly under high temperatures.
