Russell impresses: 'To me that is no surprise or shock'

George Russell is in his first season with Mercedes. Where it was expected that he would need time to perform at his new team, he is already doing it satisfactorily from the first race. For Lando Norris, however, this is no surprise at all, he tells The Independent.
Russell has been one of the talented drivers in Formula 1 for many years. Last season he had a very strong year at Williams and he managed to impress so much that he aroused the interest of Mercedes. The Germans decided to bring him in for this season as a replacement for Bottas.
With a fourth, fifth, third and fourth place this season, Russell is invariably found in the middle of the driver field. "George is doing a very good job and to me, that is no surprise or shock," Norris informed. "I didn’t expect George to make a lot of mistakes and be way behind Lewis. I said last year that he would be competitive."
Special rear wing at Mercedes
Mercedes will drive with a special rear wing at the Miami Grand Prix this weekend. The formation announces that it will sell it at the end of the weekend and that the money will go to charity.
