Max Verstappen was the big winner of the weekend at the Imola Grand Prix. However, it was not the only success the Dutchman had last weekend, as he was presented with a special award in Seville. It made father Jos Verstappen feel proud.

During the race in Italy, Verstappen showed his qualities once again. He started the race on Sunday from pole position, and under difficult circumstances he managed to make no mistakes and drive gloriously to victory.

It is not the first time that Verstappen has shown this to the outside world, because last season he also showed himself positively. In an ultimate battle with Lewis Hamilton, he managed to take victory in Abu Dhabi and thus win his first world title in Formula 1.

Verstappen is still making an impression

That success did not go entirely unnoticed abroad, as he was among the nominees for Sportsman of the Year at the Laureus Awards. He eventually managed to win that award as well. "This election is an honor: he is the first Dutchman who has achieved this," Jos Verstappen writes on Verstappen.com. He compliments his son accordingly. "We can say that Max has become one of the greatest athletes the Netherlands has ever had."
